"Leave her alone!" echoed his voice.
I shook my head. This was something I'd have to face alone. "Fight me," I declared, my voice sounding much less shaky than it should. "I'm no coward."
Cobar sighed. "You're too much of a rebel for your own good..." he growled. "I won't let you fight him." He grabbed my arm roughly, a little more roughly than necessary. "Let's go. We'll go home and you can see your family. I don't need mine."
"NO!" I yelled, ripping my arm out of his grip firmly. "I didn't come all this way for nothing. I'm going to find your brother, if it's the last thing I do."
His suddenly gentle tone surprised me. "Luna...if that were the last thing you did, I would have no reason to live."
"So..." came Naro's cold, calculating sneer. "Made your decision?"
I nodded, looked into Cobar's eyes, and gave him a long, lingering kiss on the lips. Then, satisfied, I turned to face the man who'd torn our lives apart years ago. I was trained for this.
